Roof Maintenance Tips for Home Owners

roof maintenanceBy: Andrew Sauveur

As the seasons change, it’s important for home owners to inspect their roofs, (or get them inspected) to ensure that the upcoming winter will not cause any significant damage. Here is a list of things to look for when cleaning your eaves, or for the person cleaning them.

1.) Look for missing or damaged (curling or missing corners).
2.) Check for signs of Fungus or Algae
3.) Inspect flashing for rust or missing nails
4.) Inspect caulking for cracks or missing chunks

And finally, if you see any tree branches, leaves, or vines on your roof, clear them off immediately. They will hold moisture on your roof, which can cause rapid shingle damage.

Follow these tips twice a year to ensure you get the maximum life out of your roof!
