Ever walk or drive the same route hundreds of times and then one day something pops out at you which you hadn’t noticed before? That happened to me the other day when looking for old photos of my new store located in historical downtown Whitby, Ontario at 129 Brock Street South. (opening soon! stay posted!!)

As I was looking at the photos & trying to distinguish which storefront  was mine, I noticed a common element in all which made it easier to find – This little birdhouse affixed to the corner of the building has been there for over one hundred years! I have circled it in the images below which span from Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 up until the 2011 Google street view image. Maybe when I have some time I will add my personal touch to this little home!The photos I have gathered are from Whitby Library’s Online Historic Photo Collection. I am also reaching out to anyone who may have a photo of this location particularly during the gaps I am missing over the years, but would love to see any photos as it’s always interesting to see how things have changed over the years!
