Advanced Technology Specliaist – Oshawa

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of features and design for our vehicles
and personal mobility solutions, specifically for the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and connectivity module. This role will utilize any prior software and app development, telecommunication, mobile/consumer device connectivity expertise you have developed. You will be part of an ongoing activity for innovation at GM Canada in the Connected Vehicle Department, as part of the larger Engineering team. The assignment will involve dealing with global partners, suppliers and academia to leverage invention and create production ready innovation.

What We Need You To Do

Develop and implement engineering design solutions (Apps, software prototypes) in-house, with suppliers or academia for future vehicle technologies
Develop technical specifications, requirements and supplier qualification documentation for new technologies/solutions
Perform design analysis and product evaluations for future technology
Communicate project updates to and from global teams
Coordinate and consult with departments outside engineering such as planning and purchasing
Work as part of an agile project team to develop physical and software prototypes and products
Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products


Who We Are Seeking

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatroics, Software, Eletrical or Computer Engineering
Advanced degrees preferred
Experience with hands-on software development (Java, Android, iOS, Python, C++)
Experience and strong understanding of the software development cycle
Knowledge/familiarity of electronics related to switches, displays and wired and wireless communication
Ability to manage time and meet deliverable timing is critical
Experience leading a project and/or team
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
Vehicle serial data communication knowledge
Automotive Infotainment and Connectivity domain knowledge
